Silas and Mary George lived in North Carolina before Tennessee was a state and the land where they resided was later located in Jefferson and Blount Counties East Tennessee. Silas died in the 1830's and Mary appears in the Bradley County Tennessee1840 census (represented by age and sex) and by name in the Bradley County 1850 census. She is living with William T. and Jane George Wood. There are records of a John George, son of Silas George. I have no single document that states that Martha Ann George Logan is the daughter of Silas George, but have a heap of substantiating material. From my family's history, I know that Martha Ann George Logan had two sisters: Mary (Polly) George who married Daniel Welch and Rebecca George who married a man named Reed.

~ William George ~ Early Settler in Highland co. Ohio ~

#1. William George was born May 15, 1786, in North Carolina. He was of Welsh Ancestry and he may be a son of Silas George and Mary. Silas was the son of Edward who was a brother of Ellis George that migrated from Merion (Philidelphia) to Berks Co., Pennsylvania and then on to Frederick Co., Virginia and owned land at Dillons Run, Hampshire Co. Virginia. Edward George settled in NC in an area that later became Jefferson co., Tennessee. Williams must have migrated with Thomas Beals family, when they left Lost Creek MM, to join the migration movements of Quakers, (including GEORGE and BARRETT cousins) moving from Frederick Co. [Hopewell] Virginia, into southern Ohio, Highland Co. in 1803.

William George is listed in the 1807 census of eligible voters of Fairfield Twp.
He is also listed in the 1818 voters for Fairfield Twp., Highland Co.

In June 8, 1825, William purchased 76+ acres in Clark Twp., Clinton Co., Ohio and he sold this as 80 acres in Clark Twp., September 14, 1839. William and his family then migrated from Highland Co., Ohio to Peoria Co., Illinois, settling his family near Elmwood, in ca 1841.
In a general history of Elmwood Township, William George is listed as having the first wagon-shop. So from this we can say he was a builder and repairer of Wagons, a trade also followed by his son William.

Tabitha Beals was of Quaker linage, she and Abel Thornberry, who were most likely half brother & sister.
Tabitha and Able came into Clinton Co., Ohio, in 1803, when she was at 17 years of age, with their recently widowed grandmother, Sarah (Antrim) Beals. Tabitha's marriage in 1806 at age 20, to William George was out of unity with the Society of Friends and she was condemned and she was a member until September 18, 1831, which is the last entry for her in the Miami, Highland Co., Ohio, Quaker Monthly Meeting records.
The Beals family migrated from Chester Co., Pennsylvania to Winchester, Virginia and on to Mt. Pleasant, Grayson Co., Virginia.(Near the Carroll Co., border and the town of Galax, Virginia, New Hope,Jackson co., Tennessee and finally to Highland Co., Ohio.
On census records, Tabitha's birth place is listed as, east Tennessee.

William George d., September 1, 1844, age 58 years, 4 months and 15 days.
Tabitha George d., March 1, 1869, age 82, at Elmwood, Illinois.
Both are buried in Elmwood cemetery, Peoria Co., Illinois.
Birth & death dates taken from grave marker; one stone engraved on both sides.
