9. Rhoda George

Some Knox co., Illinois, history refers to a Tabitha George married to Moses Smith however in Book 1 of marriages, Knox Co;. Page 21, it is "Rhoda" George; who's listed on the document as married Moses Smith. A possibility is that her name was Rhoda Tabitha George.

Rhoda was born c1820, in Ohio and was m. December 12, 1839, by Jacob Kightlinger, to Moses Smith, b. Ohio. This was the 1st., marriage in Elba Twp., Illinois, Knox co., Illinois. The first white child born in Elba Twp. was Tabitha Smith, on sec. 35.

Mrs. Smith, is recorded in Chapman’s 1878 History of Knox Co., page 1068, Elba Twp., as having died in a early day and her husband moved away. Only child mentioned in this history is ‘Tabitha’ first white child born in Elba Twp. (Lived in Shawneetown, Illinois).
