WILLIAM P. GEORGE PASSES AWAY

Life and it’s uncertainty was fully realized on Monday morning, March 6th at 2: 00 a.m., when William Pitt George passed into "The Valley of the Shadow of Death" with but a few moments of warning to his dear loved ones that the end was near. He had been slightly indisposed during the last year and had visited relatives in Idaho during the fall, thinking the change of climate and surroundings would benefit his condition. After his return to his home near Radersburg he seemed to enjoy fairly good health and on Saturday of last week he visited Townsend. Thirty minutes before he d. he awakened with a sickness and did not rally but a few minutes before his heart failed and death claimed him as a victim, which was a severe shock to his family and the entire community.

William Pitt George was born in Knox co., Illinois, on January 16th, 1869. When ten years of age he came with his parents to Lincoln, nebraska, and in the year 1888 he became a resident of Montana, settling in Crow Creek, Valley and has been a faithful and intelligent citizen of his adopted state ever since. Two years were spent in Caldwell, Idaho, going there in 1893 and in the year 1894 he married Miss Katie E. Kennon of Radersburg. The wedding was solemnized on Oct. 17th, in Caldwell. The following year found the young couple located in Crow Creek valley on one of the most productive and rich pieces of ground in the vicinity of the old Macomber place;, where Mr. George was engaged in farming and stockraising for many years, however between 1899 and 1901 Mr. and Mrs. George resided in Idaho where he was interested in fruit growing.

Mr. George was Commissioner of Broadwater County for six years between 1901 and 1913. He was a good business man and an efficient officer, and all who knew him will recall that he possessed a congenial disposition and a pleasing personality. He was a director of the State Bank of Townsend. His demise will be keenly felt by his immediate relatives, by Radersburg and Crow Creek people and by many friends throughout the country. Deceased leaves to mourn his loss besides his sorrowing widow, a mother Mrs. H. M. George of Caldwell, Idaho, Two sisters, Mrs. D. W. Bryan of Caldwell, Idaho and Mrs. C. W. Hesse of Boise, Idaho, one brother, Mr. Bert M. George of Lewistown, Idaho.
