Her last illness began in April if this year. She was a patient in the Iowa Methodist Hospital about three months immediately preceeding her death. Everything that medical science knew to do was done to restore her health, but she continued to suffer and to fail. Mrs. George was of a cheerful nature and maintained a pleasant outlook on life. She expressed her self repeatedly as "wishing to live, of course, but feeling that she was resigned to the Fathers will and ready to go if that was his plan."

WORKMAN KILLED AT VAN METER

Steve George of DeSoto Lost Life in a Dirt Slide at Brick and Tile Company Pit -

Steve George, a man about fifty years of age, whose home is at DeSoto, Iowa was instantly killed Saturday morning at the clay pit of the Pratt Pressed Brick & Tile Company, in Van Meter. He was buried under a slide of clay and was dead when dug out by the other workmen.

George was foreman of the pit and with two other men, Clarence Bainter and Russell Johnson, was preparing to load a horse drawn car with clay for the plant. The car had been backed up to the bank and George was between it and the dirt. With out warning a mass of clay broke loose and he was caught against the car and buried. The impact threw him against the car and his skull was fractured.

Coroner C. E. Powers was called but after making an investigation, decided that an inquest was not necessary. George was well known in DeSoto and Van Meter. He is survived by his wife and several children. Funeral services were held at DeSoto Monday.
