b. August 11, 1867 at Oak Hill, (near Elmwood) Peoria co., Illinois. She moved with her parents, first east to Rantoul, Champaign co., Illinois, in January of 1871, and then back west to Orion, Henry co., Illinois in 1876, where in the following year her sister, Leona was born.
The big move came in the spring of 1882, when the family left their home state of Illinois, this time settling near the town of Orr, near Grand Forks, North Dakota.
Gertrude married, Patrick J. OBrien, son of Mr.& Mrs. Thomas Brien who was born March 9, 1861 in Decorah, Iowa.
In 1875 the Thomas OBrien family had migrated to the vicinity of Grand Forks, North Dakota, where Pat grew to manhood.
After their marriage "Pat " & "Gertie" OBrien farmed, for awhile near the town of Orr, North Dakota. That was until 1902, at which time they took up a homestead two and a half miles South of Norwich where they farmed until 1920. Gertrude d. February 11, 1919, of Flu Pneumonia, at the age of 51 years, and six months, she was sick for only a short time. Patrick OBrien lived to be 90 years of age, he d. at the Minot Nursing Home, July 22, 1951. Both are buried at the Norwich, Rosehill cemetery.

119. Leona Ruth Calahanb. September 1, 1877, at Orion, Henry co., Illinois. The family migrated in the spring of 1882, to Orr, North Dakota a farming community near Grand Forks, North Dakota. In 1902, the family moved once more, this time settled on a homestead near Norwich, North Dakota.
Leona m. Mark Wolaver, who was a native of Minnesota. Six children were born, all in North Dakota, and all of the children, except Irene who was the oldest, moved with the family to Texas. They moved south first to Brooks co., Texas, where Leonas uncle, Hiram Calahan, was living. This region of Texas is known as the King ranch area of Texas and Hiram had been one of the early pioneers of Brooks co., residing at the town site called, Flowella, near Falfurrias, Texas.
A short time after their arrival in South Texas, Mark saw an advertisement in the paper of a cotton gin for sale in Marion co.,located in East Texas. Mark and Leona decided to go ahead and buy this gin along with a house that was built on the property. [A story has it that there was a pot of beans cooking on the old wood-stove when they bought the property.] This meant, Marion co., Texas, was to be the familys new home, and the start of a familys Cotton-Gin business that would last into the next generation.
Leona d. January 8, 1949, at age 71 years and Mark d. in September of 1950. Both are buried in Liberty cemetery, located near Harleton, Texas in Marion co., Texas.

b. September 4, 1873 in Rising Sun, Iowa, the son of Daniel and Mary E. (George) Thomas, raised in Lenox, Iowa. He m. February 10, 1898, Reatha Ann Smith, at Bedford, Iowa. Reatha was b. May 23, 1876, in Cass co., Iowa, the daughter of William and Sarah Elizabeth (Keith) Smith. They resided in Iowa until 1915, living for many years at Creston, Iowa.
Dexter and family migrated to central Montana in 1915, they first settled at Kolin, Montana and have lived in Moccasin, Montana for 28 years.
Reatha Ann (Smith) Thomas d. June 28, 1947. Survivors include her husband, Dexter; a son, Guy; a daughter, Mrs. Ruth Barrick; a sister, *Iva Haller, of Beaverton, Oregon; three brothers; Lyman and Frank Smith, of Monmouth, Oregon and George Smith, of Boise, Idaho. Two grand children, Retha & John Dexter Barrick.
H. Dexter Thomas, retired postmaster of Moccasin, Montana d. March 3, 1958 at age 85. Both are buried at Lewistown, Montana.

Iowa, January 16. 1882 and d. June 16, 1968, age 86, at Beaverton, Oregon.
She was
survived by following children, Joseph, John, Edna Anderson, Clara Dalbey, Hazel
Evans and Prudence Norris.

b. October. 20, 1890, Grant Twp., Adams co., Iowa P.O. Lenox, Iowa. Moved to central Montana area with his parents in 1910. Hugh and his brother Lee, farmed close to a 1,000 acre wheat farm at Kolin, Montana.
Hugh taught himself to play violin and played many other musical instruments as well. Hugh moved into Lewistown in 1962 and lived at 222 W. Washington, Lewistown, Montana. He was never married.
Hugh d., February 16, 1972, at age, 81 ~ Burial was at Moccasin cemetery.

b. August 1, 1898, Grant Twp., Adams co., P.O. Lenox, Iowa. She came to central Montana with her parents in 1910, at the age of 12. She never married - Lived rest of her life on the family ranch at Kolin, Montana (near Lewistown,) Montana.
Annie d., August 12, 1971, at age 73, at the Valle Vista Manor, where she had moved to in 1964. Burial was at Moccasin cemetery, Moccasin, Montana.
